Foreign media: US base in Iraq attacked by drone

A US military base in Iraq has been attacked by drone, foreign media report, citing security sources.

According to preliminary information, it targeted the perimeter of the base where American forces are stationed.

There is still no official confirmation of material damage or injuries, while defense systems are said to have been activated immediately after the drone was detected.

So far there has been no immediate reaction from US authorities, but similar incidents have occurred before in the region, in a climate of ongoing tensions between US forces and pro-Iranian armed groups operating on Iraqi territory.
