Closing of offices in Mitrovica/ OSCE reacts: Concerned about the human impact

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo has reacted through a press release expressing concern about the recent closure of parallel offices where Serbs have received healthcare, pension payments, school materials and social support.

"Disruptions to these services disproportionately hit the elderly, people with disabilities, and families with limited alternatives the hardest," the statement reads.

The OSCE mission further states that any measures affecting public services should ensure uninterrupted access for all communities while disputes are addressed through EU-facilitated dialogue.

The Mission is increasingly concerned about the human impact of the recent closure of service providers in North Mitrovica on non-majority communities who rely on these offices for healthcare, pension payments, school supplies and social support.
The disruptions of these services disproportionately hit the elderly, people with disabilities and families with limited alternatives the hardest.

Any measure affecting public services must ensure uninterrupted access for all communities while disputes are addressed through EU-facilitated Dialogue and with meaningful local consultation.

The mission will continue to monitor the situation closely as part of its mandate of early warning and support for resilient and inclusive communities.
