Gaza ceasefire agreement/ Rubio talks with Omani minister

Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke today with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.

They discussed in a telephone conversation the situation in the region, including the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the need to secure the release of all hostages, efforts to support aid flows to Gaza, the political future of Syria, and the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon.

More than 48,300 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 111,000 have been injured in a brutal Israeli war in Gaza since October 2023. The offensive, which left the enclave in ruins, was halted under a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that came into effect on January 19.

Rubio also exchanged views on the importance of permanently ending the illegal attacks by Yemen's Houthi group on the Red Sea and surrounding waterways.
