Montenegro and the European integration process

Analysts estimate that in Montenegro there should be an understanding of issues of national interest and an adaptation to the foreign policy of the European Union.

The former editor-in-chief of the Montenegrin newspaper "Zid" and "Liberal" and analyst, Xhevdet Pepi?, points out that the Montenegrin government is not prepared for European integration.

"This government, like the previous ones, is not prepared for European integrations, since with such an evaluation system it does not ensure a clear future", said Mr. Pepiç.

Analyst Nikollë Berishaj estimates that the support of official Brussels is more a result of the situation in Ukraine and the current geopolitical situation in the region.

"I address this support more to the EU's interest in the situation in Urain and the geopolitical situation in the region. The delays that have occurred in the integration of the states of the Western Balkans have been more the delay of the EU than the desire of the states in question", said Mr. Berishaj.

Mr. Berishaj, meanwhile, expresses strong reservations about the reorganization of the government with pro-Serbian and pro-Russian parties.

"The reorganization with four future ministers who have the propaganda of the Serbian Orthodox Church that does not accept Montenegro as a state and that does not accept the Montenegrin nation and church will lead to a step back or at least a stagnation in these integrations and I am not enthusiastic for such a thing," said Mr. Berishaj.

In this context, even Mr. Pepiç sees the reorganization of the government with other political forces as ineffective.

"The reorganization of the government represents an even greater financial burden for the institutions and does not guarantee any success in the country's internal and external policy", said Mr. Pepiç.

Mr. Berishaj considers the unclear attitude of the Montenegrin Prime Minister regarding the Srebrenica Resolution as a political game of the government.

"Even this game of Prime Minister Spajic that he will not sponsor it, but will vote for it, is rather a result of pressure than their will", said Mr. Berishaj.

Even Mr. Pepi? estimates that with the issue of Srebrenica, the government is not transparent and is manipulating public opinion.

"With this issue, the Montenegrin government is manipulating opinion to a great extent and there is a lot of non-transparency. Prime Minister Spajic must be very clear and concrete in this matter", said analyst Xhevdet Pepi?.
