Kurti: Aggressive Serbia makes us cautious
Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said on Tuesday during the inauguration of a State Training Center for Cyber ??Security in Pristina that "we are clear that our northern neighbor is aggressive" referring to Serbia.

"Well, this makes us cautious, scared asses," Kurti told reporters.

Kurti emphasized that Kosovo is preparing as much as possible with "everything we can and know", which is why it has opened the center, which will offer cyber security training.

"The conflicts are not inter-ethnic, it is not the ethnic difference that causes the conflict, but it is the autocracy in Belgrade, connected with the despotism in Moscow", he added.

The Kosovar Prime Minister said that he has warned for a long time that "undemocratic states in our region, not only in Eastern Europe, are a danger to security and peace, but of course no one can know this as thoroughly and deeply as the United States of America." ".

Last September, Kurti said that "Russia's allies", through disinformation and other malicious behavior in the cyber field, are affecting the process of normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

In Kosovo, Russia has been accused earlier of pushing its ally, Serbia, to incite tensions in the neighboring country, although such claims have been rejected by Russia.

In a report by the Democracy Plus organization, published in 2022, it was said that Kosovo "is subject to misinformation from foreign malicious actors, such as Russia, China and Serbia".

The last reported cyber attacks on state institutions occurred in September 2022. The Kosovo government said at the time that the attack originated abroad, but did not say from which country.

State institutions have been the target of cyber attacks before.

Tensions between Kosovo and Serbia rose last September, when a group of armed Serbs attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska in Zvecan, killing a Kosovar sergeant. During the ensuing clashes, three Serb attackers were killed.

On February 13, Kurti said that by refusing to sign the Agreement for the normalization of relations between the two countries, the president of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, is leaving open the possibility of "invading Kosovo".

Last February, Kosovo and Serbia agreed in Brussels on this agreement, while in April in Ohrid, agreement was reached on the Annex for its implementation. However, the parties did not sign the agreement, but the European bloc, which mediates the dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, said that it is binding for the parties./ REL
