"Khamenei is in Iran"/ Russian Ambassador: He is avoiding public

The location of Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has been confirmed by Russia's ambassador to Tehran.

According to his statement to Russian media RTVI, Khamenei is currently in Iran, but is avoiding public appearances "for understandable reasons."

Mojtaba Khamenei took over after the assassination of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the first day of the war that broke out on February 28 between Israel and the United States.

On the other hand, the US has stated that it believes Khamenei has been wounded and may have suffered serious physical injuries.

His last public appearance was recorded last Monday, when he praised the late Iranian Navy commander, Alireza Tangsiri, in his first statement after 10 days of silence.

In his message, the new supreme leader of the Islamic Republic described Tangsiri as a "proud and courageous commander" who served as a "defender of Iran's independence."

 Speculation has recently been circulating about his health, as he has not appeared in public since the start of the joint US-Israeli military operation.

Russia, meanwhile, maintains close relations with Iran, with which it signed a strategic partnership agreement last year.
