The latest directives of the European Commission against Germany emphasize that the German country should focus on renewable energy and abandon fossil fuels.

This request comes thanks to some economic policy recommendations, which are part of a wider analysis, which has been presented to EU member states.

The European Commission has called on EU governments to cut support for businesses due to high electricity costs and use the savings to pay down debt accumulated since the coronavirus pandemic.

"While energy prices have fallen recently, we still face many challenges", said EC Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis, emphasizing the high level of inflation in the countries of the European bloc.

This EU body suggests that Germany implement well-considered spending and tax policies. The EC also states that the EU debt rules, which were suspended during the pandemic, will come into force again in 2024.

"Germany should take this fact into account when making the national budget expenditures in 2023 and when drawing up the plans for the expenditures in 2024," the recommendations of the European Commission say./ CNA.al
