Four people in Kosovo are declared guilty of terrorism

Four people have been declared guilty of criminal offenses related to terrorism or against the constitutional order and security of Kosovo.

The Basic Court in Pristina announced the verdict against the accused with the initials A.Gj, E.S, N.S and M.B for the criminal offense "Preparation of terrorist offenses or criminal offenses against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo".

According to the announcement, E.S., M.B. and A.Gj were also found guilty of the offense of "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons". The accused N.S was found guilty of the crime of "facilitating and financing terrorism".

Due to the lack of evidence, A.Gj was acquitted for lack of evidence from the criminal offense "Failure to notify the preparation of criminal offences".

The sentencing hearing is set for January 25.

The indictment against the four accused was filed in December of 2022. Atebotë, the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo had announced that the four persons were accused that from March of 2021 to October of the same year, they had tried to create an organizational structure "for committing of terrorist acts in Kosovo".

According to the indictment, the four defendants had contacted a person who had a high rank "in the Islamic State terrorist organization" and were committed to providing various weapons.

Two of the defendants, according to the Special Prosecutor's Office, were accused of having hidden firearms and ammunition of various types, which they had placed in plastic bags and buried.

According to the laws in Kosovo, different punishments are provided for terrorist offenses and against the constitutional order.

Since 2015, participation in foreign wars is also prohibited in Kosovo and, according to the law, punishments of up to 15 years of imprisonment are foreseen./ REL
