Kate Middleton is diagnosed with cancer

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton in a video message announced that she is fighting cancer.

In a video statement, Catherine says he was a great friend and has had a very difficult 2 months.

 "I'm fine and I'm getting stronger every day," she says in the video message.

Details of the illness have not been released, but Kensington Palace says it is confident the princess will make a full recovery.

The princess' statement explains that when she underwent the procedure in January, it was not known if she had cancer.

"Post-operative tests revealed that cancer was present. My medical team therefore advised me to undergo preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of this treatment," said the princess.

She said she was thinking of everyone affected by cancer, adding: "To everyone who is dealing with this disease, in whatever form, please don't lose faith or hope. You are not alone."

Catherine said her recovery from surgery in January, for an undisclosed condition, had taken time and the priority now was to reassure her family.

"William and I have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our family." The princess added: "It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is suitable for them and to reassure them that I will be fine."

She said the family now needs time, space and privacy./ CNA
