"Iran continues with wrong steps"/ Erdogan: Our objective is to stay

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reacted today to the second missile that was aimed at Turkey and shot down by NATO. Erdogan said that Turkey has issued the necessary warnings to Iran, but Tehran continues to take wrong steps despite these warnings.

"Iran was given the necessary warnings. Despite these warnings, it continues to take wrong steps," Erdogan said.

At a press conference after a cabinet meeting, he stressed that Ankara's main objective is to prevent Turkey from getting involved in the war, while continuing to support diplomacy.

"As in other wars, Turkey stands on the side of justice and supports resolving conflicts through dialogue ," Erdogan said.

The president also highlighted Turkey's defense capabilities, saying the country has the capacity to respond to threats targeting its security and sovereignty.

"The Republic of Turkey is strong and capable in every field. It has the capacity to repel any attack and break the dirty hands that aim at its survival ," he said.

Today's incident marks the second missile intercepted by Iran in less than a week. Turkey, NATO's second-largest military and Iran's neighbor, had warned Tehran on Saturday against a new attack but stopped short of suggesting it wants to formally call on members of the bloc for further protection. /CNA
