A Russian suspected of being behind a car bomb attack that injured two people in Moscow on July 24 has been extradited from Turkey and arrived in the Russian capital, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk said on July 26.

One of the injured, after the explosion in a parking lot north of Moscow, is reported to be a senior official of military intelligence. However, the identity of the two victims is still unclear.

The suspected attacker, identified as Russian citizen Yevgeny Serebryakov, was arrested by Turkish police in Bodrum after traveling there by plane on July 24, the same day as the bombing, Turkish Interior Minister Ali said in a statement. Yerlikaya.

Volk, in a Telegram post, said Serebryakov's arrest and extradition was made possible through cooperation between Russian and Turkish law enforcement agencies. Cooperation was coordinated through INTERPOL channels.

"Today, Serebryakov was sent to Russia and handed over to the investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation," Volk said.

Neither the Investigative Committee nor the Ministry of Defense have identified the two people injured in the explosion. These institutions have stated that they are investigating this incident.

But Russian media have reported that Andrei Torgashov, 49, the deputy head of a military center for satellite communications, who is also reported to have participated in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The media have said that he and his wife are the people who were injured.

However, a person claiming to be Torgashov's wife is quoted as saying, according to a Telegram channel, that neither she nor her husband were in the car when the bomb went off, claiming that other people were there. .

An unverified video published on Telegram on July 26 shows a young man in handcuffs, said to be Serebryakov. The authenticity of the video could not be independently confirmed.

Even the Russian newspaper "Moskovsky komsomolets" reported earlier "that the tracks of the investigation also include the possible involvement of the Ukrainian special services and their agents."

Several Russian military officials and pro-Kremlin figures have been targeted in bombings since Moscow launched its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
