The border points in Merdarë and Bërnjak have been closed by Serbian protesters, while the blockade for citizens with Kosovo documents has been lifted at the border point of Jarinja, and now traffic continues without problems.

This was confirmed by the deputy police director for the northern region, Veton Elshani.

"The situation is calm, there was no incident", Elshani told Klankosova.tv.

The Serbs are protesting beyond the borders of Kosovo, and demand that the Kosovo Police withdraw from the north, and KFOR take it under surveillance.

Regarding this situation, there was also a reaction from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, who called on the international community not to escalate the situation.

"We urgently call on the USA, Turkey, Germany, France and NATO to intervene to prevent Vucic from further escalating the situation", Gërvalla said.

Even the Minister of the Interior, Xelal Sveçla, reacted after the recent events in the north.

"After the warning of the Serbian extremist groups for protests today after 18:00, groups of masked extremists were observed who, in the presence of the Serbian police, inside the territory of Serbia, stopped the cars and legitimized the travelers. A few moments ago, a family that was traveling to Germany was unable to continue their journey and was forced to turn back. This is happening before the eyes of the police of Serbia, this fact makes it jointly guilty. These fascist acts, where Serbs are allowed regardless of the documentation they possess, while Albanians are prevented regardless of the documentation they possess, are absolutely unacceptable to us," said Sveçla.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has chosen not to comment on these blockades./ CNA
