Hezbollah warns of retaliation against Israel

Hezbollah and the Lebanese government today blamed Israel for Tuesday's explosion of small electronic messaging devices (pagers) used by members of the militant group (Hezbollah). As a result, at least 12 people were killed and around 4,000 others were injured.

Officials of the militant group Hezbollah said on Wednesday that they will continue fighting Israel in support of Hamas militants in Gaza and warned Israel of what they called a "severe punishment".

Israel has not commented on the incident, which came hours after the Israeli government announced an expansion of its objectives related to the fight against Hamas militants in Gaza, including guaranteeing the security of the northern part of the country, amid the conflict with Hezbollah along the border.
