A Kurdish militant group claimed responsibility on Friday for an attack on the headquarters of a major defense company in Ankara, killing at least five people.
In a statement, the military wing of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, the PKK, said the October 23 attack on Turkey's defense and aerospace company TUSAS was carried out by two of its members in response to Turkey's "massacres" and its other actions in the Kurdish regions.
A man and a woman attacked the headquarters of TUSAS on the outskirts of Ankara, throwing explosive devices and shooting. Four TUSAS employees were killed there. The attackers had arrived at the scene in a taxi, after having killed its driver.
During the shooting with the security forces, the two attackers were also killed, while more than 20 other people were injured.
Turkey blamed the PKK for this attack and immediately began bombing facilities and locations suspected of being used by the militant group in northern Iraq, or by its collaborators in northern Syria.
The PKK is considered a terrorist group by Turkey and its Western allies./ REL
