Donald Trump is released on parole from prison/ "It was a terrible

Donald Trump turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail on Thursday on a variety of charges stemming from his efforts to change the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.

This is the fourth time the former president has faced criminal charges.

Trump spent a little more than 20 minutes in the Fulton County Jail, where he was released on bail.

Trump's surrender in Georgia marks the fourth time this year that the former president has surrendered to local or federal officials after criminal charges were filed against him, unprecedented in the US before 2023.

Trump has described being in prison as a terrible and very sad experience. "All my life I knew nothing about indictments and now I've been sued four times," he said during an interview on NewsMax.

In April, Trump was arrested in New York on state charges related to a hush money scheme. In June, he turned himself in to a federal court in Miami to face charges in special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into the misuse of classified documents.

And earlier this month, Trump was arrested in Washington, D.C., and charged with charges brought by Smith in his investigation into efforts to subvert the 2020 election.

All of these cases come at the same time that Trump is running for president.

Trump is released from prison on bail, pays $200,000 bail

Trump agreed to a $200,000 bond and other conditions of release, including not using social media to target co-defendants and witnesses in the case.

Trump covered the cost of his $200,000 bond by putting 10% down on it and working with a local Atlanta bonding company called Foster Bail Bonds LLC, sources told CNN.

Trump left his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, for Georgia on Thursday afternoon, landing in Atlanta on his private jet shortly after 7 p.m.

Trump's motorcade traveled to the Fulton County Jail for his arrest. After spending roughly 20 minutes in jail, Trump returned to the airport, where he spoke briefly with reporters before boarding his private jet.

"What happened here is a travesty of justice. We did nothing wrong. I've done nothing wrong and everyone knows that," Trump said. "I have never had such support and the same goes for others. What they are doing is meddling in the election," Trump declared./ CNA
