King Charles' touching wish for Princess Charlotte/ The new title she will

He may be referred to by many as His Majesty, but to his grandchildren, King Charles is simply 'grandfather'.

The monarch has a total of five grandchildren - the Prince and Princess of Wales' children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's little ones, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. During the summer holidays, Charles hosted many of his family members at his Balmoral estate - including his three eldest grandchildren George, Charlotte and Louis.

Of course, as the oldest of the bunch, 10-year-old George's future is mapped out for him as the next King - but for Charlotte and Louis, things are a little less clear. However, Charles once made a sweet wish for what he hoped Charlotte would do when she was older.

In May 2015, Charles, then the Prince of Wales himself, was on a visit to his model town of Poundbury, in Dorset, days after Charlotte was born. He told well-wishers he had really hoped for a girl and described her as "beautiful". And he added: "I'm excited. I was hoping for a granddaughter - someone to look after me when I'm very old."

At the moment, Charlotte's official title is HRH Princess Charlotte of Wales - but it seems she may be given another title when she's older, Princess Royal. However, this would not happen until her father Prince William becomes King, as is traditionally given to the eldest daughter of the monarch. The current Princess Royal is the only daughter of the late Queen, Princess Anne, who was given the title in 1987./ CNA
