British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Sunday that there are no imminent plans to send military personnel to Kiev to train Ukrainian soldiers.
Earlier, the most senior British defense official spoke during an interview about the intentions of training Kiev forces in Ukraine by British soldiers.
Until now, Britain and its allies have avoided a military presence in Ukraine to reduce the risk of direct conflict with Russia.
British Defense Minister Grant Shapps, who was appointed to the post last month, said in an interview with The Sunday Telegraph that he wanted to send military instructors to Ukraine, as well as train Ukrainian armed forces in Britain. and other western countries.
"What the defense chief meant was that in the future it might be possible for us to conduct exercises in Ukraine," Mr Sunak told reporters ahead of the ruling Conservative Party's annual conference in Manchester.
"But this is a long-term plan, not here and not now. "No British soldiers will be sent while the conflict continues," he said.
