On Saturday, the movement of a military convoy was observed in the south of Serbia, from the direction of Vranje towards Nis, near the city of Predejana, after the concerns that Washington and Brussels expressed about the relocation of Serbian forces along the border with Kosovo.

The town of Predejan is located 300 kilometers south of Belgrade and about 100 kilometers from the nearest border crossing point between Serbia and Kosovo, Merdare.

The convoy of Serbian army vehicles, as the Radio Free Europe reporter points out, was moving from the south to the north of the country around noon.

The movement of Serbian troops along the border with Kosovo comes about a week after the September 24 attack on the Kosovo Police in Banjska in Zveçan, where a police officer was killed.

Serbia has denied Kosovo's accusations that it was involved in this attack, described as a terrorist attack by the Kosovar authorities.

The United States (USA) and the European Union (EU) have expressed their concern about the deployment of Serbian troops near the border with Kosovo.

During a conversation with reporters on September 29, the coordinator for strategic communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, expressed Washington's concern about, as he said, the "large deployment" of Serbian troops along the border with Kosovo.

A day later, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stressed that the EU is very concerned about the strengthening of Serbia's military presence along the border and said that this is "disturbing and must be stopped immediately".

However, Serbia claims that it has not raised the level of combat readiness.

In a statement to the media on September 29, Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? said that "there are untruths about the highest level of combat readiness of Serbia", since, as he claims, he did not approve it.

After the attack on the Kosovo police on September 24 in Banjska in Zveçan, the Serbian Army through a press release (September 27) announced that the Minister of Defense of Serbia, Miloš Vu?evi?, visited the army units "in the area of ??their deployment" that days, but without specifying in which part of Serbia.
