Democrats tighten control of Senate after victory in Georgia

After the victory in the state of Georgia, the Democrats have strengthened their control in the Senate.

Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock defeated Republican Herschel Walker in a runoff election in Georgia on Tuesday, giving Democrats a majority in the Senate for the remainder of President Joe Biden's term.

"I often say that voting is a kind of prayer for the world we want, for ourselves, and for our children," said Warnock, a Baptist pastor and his state's first black senator.

With Warnock's victory, Democrats will have a 51-49 majority in the Senate, securing a lead after the current 50-50 split.

The December runoff in Georgia was decisive for the Senate seat split between the two parties.

These are the best results of the Democratic Party in the midterm elections in the last 20 years.

Millions of Americans voted in this election, which was held in November.

All 435 seats in the US House of Representatives, as well as 35 seats in the US Senate and 36 for governors were in the race./REL
