The US says it does not encourage Ukrainians to attack inside Russia

Another Russian airbase caught fire after a drone attack on December 6, a day after Russia said two of its airbases, including one hundreds of kilometers from Ukraine, had been hit by drones.

The US State Department said it had no confirmation that the attacks were carried out by Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US "neither encouraged nor allowed the Ukrainians to strike inside Russia".

He added that it is important to understand what Ukrainians are experiencing every day with "continued Russian aggression," accusing Russia of its attacks on civilian infrastructure.

On December 5, a powerful explosion occurred at the Russian air base in the Saratov region, about 600 kilometers east of Ukraine. An explosion at an airbase in Ryazan, southeast of Moscow, was also reported.

Russia's Defense Ministry said the attacks were carried out by Ukrainian drones. However, the Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on these explosions./REL
