Britain sanctions Russia's second richest man

Vladimir Putin's cousin and Russia's second richest man are the latest Kremlin figures to be sanctioned by the UK government.

The United Kingdom on Wednesday announced the imposition of sanctions on oligarch Vladimir Potani, described by London as Russia's second richest man and who bought assets from firms leaving Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.

Potanin “vazhdon të grumbullojë pasuri” që kur presidenti Vladimir Putin urdhëroi pushtimin e Ukrainës, shkruhet në deklaratën e qeverisë britanike.

Banka franceze “Societe Generale”, e cila iu bashkua kompanive të tjera perëndimore që ndaluan aktivitetin e tyre në Rusi, muajin e kaluar finalizuan shitjen e filialit të tyre rus “Rosbank” te një firmë investimesh të financuar nga Potanin.

Potanin është gjithashtu edhe bashkëpronari gjigantit rus “Norilsk Nickel”. Revista prestigjioze “Forbes” e listoi atësi personin e dytë më tëpasur në Rusi me një kapital prej 27 miliardë dollarësh.

Një tjetër person i sanksionuar nga Britania është Anna Tsivileva, një kushëri i parë i Putinit që drejtonte kompaninë minerare për nxjerrjen e qymyrit “JSC Kolmar Group”.

"Today's sanctions show that no one and nothing is exempt from sanctions, including Putin's inner circle," said a spokesman for the British government.

"As long as Putin continues his bloody attack on Ukraine, we will use sanctions to weaken Russia's war machine."
