Russian attacks leave Ukrainian cities without power and drinking water

United States President Joe Biden called on oil and gas companies on Monday to use their record profits to cut costs for Americans and increase production, or pay higher taxes. The statement came as the fight against high fuel prices continues and with the polls just a week away.
In a speech at the White House, President Biden criticized major oil companies for making huge profits while inflation-weary Americans are paying huge sums to fuel their cars.
Nëse do t'i kalonin ato fitime te konsumatorët, çmimet e benzinës do të uleshin me rreth 50 centë, tha presidenti.
The president made the speech just a week before Americans decide whether his party's Democrats will retain control of Congress. Republicans seem to be the favorites to take the majority of the House of Representatives, while it is not clear for the Senate.
Global energy giants, including Exxon Mobil Corp. and Chevron Corp., posted another round of big quarterly earnings, benefiting from rising natural gas and fuel prices that have fueled inflation around the world and sparked renewed calls for further taxation of the sector./VOA
