Biden: I believe the hostages in Gaza will be released

United States President Joe Biden said Tuesday he is engaged in daily talks to secure the release of hostages being held by the radical Palestinian group Hamas, designated a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union.

"Hold on, we're coming," Biden said at the White House when asked by reporters what his message was to family members of the hostages.

Biden emphasized that he talks every day with the parties involved in talks about the possible release of the hostages, but did not want to give details.

Hamas fighters breached border barriers and entered southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people and taking 240 hostages, according to Israeli officials.

Four hostages have been released so far.

Meanwhile, in a White House press release on Sunday, Biden "unequivocally" condemned Hamas's holding of hostages, including young children, one of whom is a three-year-old American whose parents were killed by the radical group. on October 7.

Families of hostages being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip began a five-day march on Tuesday, from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, to demand the government do more for their release.

In Washington, they planned a "March for Israel" on Tuesday afternoon, following large protests across the US and the world against Israel's military campaign in Gaza.

Over 11,000 Palestinians, about 40% children, have been killed as a result of Israeli bombing in Gaza, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which is led by Hamas./ REL
