Albania loses, Kosovo wins in Arbitration / Albin Kurti's announcement

The Court of Arbitration has given the decision on the lawsuit filed by Blerim Devolli against the Government of Kosovo for the expropriation of the company "Dardafon.net LLC", the operator of the virtual mobile network in Kosovo.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti says that Kosovo won again in international arbitration. Through a status on social networks, Kurti declares that the Arbitration rejected Devolli's claims and ordered the latter to pay Kosovo more than 1.3 million euros.

Ministria e Drejtësisë, përmes Avokaturës Shtetërore së bashku me ekipin mbrojtës të Squire Patton Boggs kanë arritur fitoren e radhës për Kosovën në arbitrazhin ndërkombëtar, duke mposhtur pretendimet e Blerim Devollit kundër Republikës së Kosovës.

Përmes një padie të dorëzuar pranë Gjykatës Ndërkombëtare të Arbitrazhit pranë Dhomës Ndërkombëtare të Tregtisë në mars të vitit 2020, z.Devolli kishte kërkuar kompensim prej së paku 45 milionë euro nga Republika e Kosovës si pasojë e pretendimeve për shpronësimin e Dardafon.net, operatorin e rrjetit celular virtual në Kosovë, pronë kjo e z.Devolli. Pak ditë më parë, Tribunali ndërkombëtar i Arbitrazhit ka lëshuar vendim duke hedhur poshtë në tërësi pretendimet e z. Devolli dhe duke urdhëruar këtë të fundit t’ia paguajë Republikës së Kosovës mbi 1.3 milion euro në emër të shpenzimeve të procedurës.

This case marks the third consecutive victory of the Republic of Kosovo in investment arbitration, ranking our country as one of the few countries with no losses in international investment arbitration. Previous cases, Bedri Selmani v. Republic of Kosovo and IuteCredit v. Republic of Kosovo, have also resulted in complete victories for the Republic of Kosovo. The total value claimed in these three arbitrations amounts to 145 million euros", he declares./ CNA.al
