The governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, in a press conference revealed that the number of loans in the private sector has increased.

Sejko said the growth rate peaked at 16.8% in August, reaching the highest levels in more than a decade.

Also, he announced that during the last months, a reactivation of foreign currency lending has been noticed.

"Credit for the private sector marked a further acceleration during the months of July - August. The pace of growth peaked at 16.8% in August, standing at the highest level in more than a decade. This loan has continued to cover the needs of business and Albanian families for the expansion of their consumption and investments, giving a growing contribution to the expansion of economic activity. Credit expansion continues to be supported - to the greatest extent - by the expansion of the loan portfolio in Lek. However, during the last few months, a reactivation of lending in foreign currency has been noticed", emphasized Sejko./ CNA
