Businesses are not finding drivers/ The net salary reaches 1,000 euros

Businesses in the country are increasingly suffering from labor shortages.

One of the positions currently in high demand, according to companies, is finding drivers.

The problem of the lack of finding drivers is being faced both by companies distributing foodstuffs, urban transport and international transport of goods.

From the private sector, to prevent the escalating shortage of drivers, the policy of increasing salaries is being implemented.

Representatives from the "Marketing & Distribution" company claimed that there are difficulties in finding employees in support positions, especially drivers.

To solve the problem, the company has increased the net salaries up to 1,000 euros for the drivers of the vehicles that distribute the food products in the country.

Difficulties are also being encountered in finding truck drivers who transport imported goods abroad.

Rodolf Xhillari from the "Balkan Trans Albania" company claimed earlier that 25 to 30% of the vehicles are idle, as truck drivers are missing.

According to him, this shortage is due to the emigration of drivers to EU countries, especially to Germany for higher wages.

The minimum salary of truck drivers in Albania ranges from 500 to 600 euros, while the maximum starts from 1,000-1,500 to 2,000 euros.

Salaries for truck drivers in Europe start at 2,000 euros.

Even the Chairman of the National City Transport Association Kostandin Foni claimed for Monitor that they are having difficulties finding bus drivers for public lines in Tirana.

According to him, the only solution that has been undertaken is the salary increase. According to him, the average salary of a bus driver has reached 90,000 per month, while that of a biller is 75,000 per month.

We emphasize that local businesses are having difficulty finding labor for other positions, such as warehouse workers, sanitary workers, economists, etc.

So the driver shortage crisis is accelerating rapidly in Europe as well. A report published in 2022 by the IRU (International Road Transport Union) raised concerns that the growing gap between retired and new drivers is expected to increase the shortage to 60% for truck drivers and up to 50% for bus drivers in Europe. .

The report states that without action to make the driving profession more accessible and attractive, Europe could lack over 2 million drivers by 2026, affecting half of all freight movements and millions of passenger journeys./Monitor Magazine
