That these summer vacations would be "salty"... it was known. This is due to the increase in the price of food, drinks or fuel. Consequently, this year according to a questionnaire conducted by the Balkan Barometer for the year 2022, about 60 percent of Albanians have affirmed that they cannot afford the expenses for one week of vacation per year. This was the highest percentage in the region.
But there are plenty of cheaper vacation options. The beaches in the north of the country, Shengjin and Velipoja can be two options. Durrës and a part of Vlora also offer affordable prices. The same cannot be said for Saranda, Palasa or Dhërmi where a couple has to pay from 10 to 14 thousand lek just to stay for one night.

Despite the price increases, Albania continues to offer lower prices than European countries and even the Region. According to the Airbnb platform, a couple can be accommodated on the country's beaches for an average of 65 euros, a figure lower than what a tourist would have to pay in Turkey, Montenegro, Greece. Italy or Malta.

Beyond the price crisis, this summer season is expected to exceed that of 2019. According to data from the Bank of Albania, in the first three months of the year alone, foreign tourists spent more than 400 million euros in the country, this figure is almost 2 times higher than the average of the years 2008-2021. /CNA.al
