Prime Minister Rama once again mentioned special journalists today, saying that they should sever relations with journalists and stop supplying the nation with investigative secrets.
"They should cut off relations with special journalists, stop supplying the nation with investigative secrets, stop behaving as if they were editorial staff of newspapers, portals, and channels, and do their job. Every time they catch corruption, they should open their arms with all their might," Rama declared.
In fact, the prime minister would do well not to call the special reporters, but to receive and read the court's decision.
Nothing more than that. There are no special journalists, there are journalists who read, there are journalists who don't read or like the prime minister who is probably ignorant that we don't want to believe or who is probably being lied to.
So rather than bothering with special journalists who, if she were a man, she would have invited to a press conference once, she wouldn't go around making jokes in parliamentary groups without any public responsibility. True jokes because our prime minister says they are the students and professors of the university.
What if these professors are even 1% corrupt and have taken money, how do they get away with it? Who is responsible?
Rather than defending the mayor on two very serious criminal charges, such as corruption and laundering of proceeds of crime, for which he risks up to 15 years in prison with two court decisions, the Prime Minister would do well to call these journalists to a press conference to receive the court's decision in advance and read the facts.
Or are the special journalists to blame because he once said pears and plums about Arben Ahmetaj, but he didn't talk about Berisha and Meta, who really went behind bars, went through the same structure and legal procedures as Erion.
Albania has a Criminal Code, which was harmonized when the Justice Reform took place and it is black on white, the past, what are the security measures or what are the steps in court from the first to the last, from the trial for security measures, the preliminary judge or the trial judge, and Edi Rama knows this very well.
There is no need to worry about either specialized or non-specialized journalists.
If he is a man, let him gather these special journalists for a press conference, not to speak as he pleases and lecture like he would in front of his party crowd, but to receive the court's decision on Erion Veliaj, to read the facts and evidence line by line.
It is good to take Klotilda Bushka because she has a very good lawyer, and to have Fatmir Xhafaj by her side who is giving good jurisprudence lectures and showing us the decisions of the Strasbourg court, where in fact the largest punishment that Albania has received from Strasbourg is 130 million euros from Erion Veliaj's messages for the "Becchetti" case.
Maybe Rama won't remember this, but he will tell us that we are losing money from the courts.
Albania has lost so much money in Strasbourg from Erion Veliaj that it will not lose it in 100 years, perhaps in any other decision given by the Albanian judiciary.
And more than the prime minister addressing special journalists or behaving like a prosecutor of prosecutors, it would be important for him to bear public responsibility because hundreds of millions of euros have been paid for incinerators that do not exist and do not work, tens of millions of euros have been stolen from the directors of Erion Veliaj's "5D", hundreds of millions of euros in concessions have been made, and people are in prison with concrete facts and evidence.
And, Erion Veliaj is behind bars with legal responsibility, while Edi Rama is not asked for anything more than moral and political responsibility.
If he has lost his moral and political responsibility along the way, he cannot find it by talking about special journalists, or by lying about alleged Strasbourg decisions, or by defending Klotilda Bushka or the rectors of a rotten university with a bunch of arrested people, or by the minds of Fatmir Xhafaj who are leading Edi Rama down a dead end, which God forbid he will come to an end./ CNA
