The political leader of the PD for Tirana, Belind Këlliçi, made a strong statement this evening, as he was talking about the "non-grata" sanction against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

While raising doubts about influence in the decision on the sanction, Kelliçi said that the British ambassador, Alastair King-Smith, has very friendly relations with the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

However, he also emphasized the fact that King-Smith removed Veliaj from the photos after SPAK carried out the arrests of Veliaj's directors for the "5D" file.

"I cannot say with 100% absolute certainty whether the ambassador has a role personally or not, but Mr. King-Smith is known in all diplomatic and political circles in Albania as a very close relation of the current mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, no one can deny this, I have the impression. They have a very friendly relationship.

Mr. King-Smith was the first diplomat who retouched Erion Veliaj from the photos after the accusations and the facts about '5D' came out and this is true. However, I cannot say beyond any reasonable doubt that Mr. King-Smith is involved in this matter," Kelliçin underlined in Alba Alishan's "Debat" show./ CNA
