In a statement to the media, the Spokesperson for Anticorruption in DP, Genta Vangjeli, has made another denunciation of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who, in violation of the law, gave millions of euros in tenders to the companies of a person sentenced to two years in prison.

According to Vangjeli, there are 57 public tender contracts that Veliaj corruptly concluded with 3 commercial entities in violation of the law.

"The first subject Regli shpk with an administrator and a citizen owner sentenced by the court to two years in prison for the theft of 80 million lek for a tender with the object: "Stream system, neighborhood no. 1, Ura e Madhe-Kruje.

The second entity "MC Catering shpk" owned by the convicted person mentioned above until 2012 and currently owned by his son.

The third entity that has changed its name 3 times is currently "Eagle Cons shpk" (former Eglenti shpk, former 2 Binjaket) owned by the convict's daughter.

The company caught in tender theft in 2018, for which the administrator and its owner were convicted, did not prevent Erjon Veliaj from concluding these contracts: According to Open Corporates Albania, Regli shpk in cooperation with "MC catering shpk" benefited from 14 contracts with total value 3 million euros without VAT;

"Regli shpk" in cooperation with "MC catering shpk" and "Eglenti shpk" won 9 tenders with a total value of 2.3 million euros without VAT;

"MC catering shpk" only 23 procedures totaling 1.4 million euros; "Eglenti shpk" only 11 procedures total value 489 thousand euros.

Therefore, Veliaj, instead of disqualifying the offer submitted by the company owned by the convict or the offer submitted by the association of operators of which the entity owned by the convict was a part, gives a total of about 7 million euros to him together with his family members.
