The Chairperson of the Committee for Culture, Tourism and Diaspora, Ina Zhupa, reacted after the protest of the boat operators in Ksamil, accusing the Municipality of Saranda of lack of planning and irresponsibility at the start of the tourist season.

Zhupa demanded an immediate solution for the docking of the vessels and emphasized that tourism is not managed with propaganda, but with responsibility.

"The tourist season has begun and Ksamil expects to have thousands of visitors, tourist operators of boats and small vessels are forced to protest to demand something that the Municipality of Saranda should have resolved in time: the determination of a base for vessels."

This situation clearly highlights the irresponsibility and lack of planning by the municipality, which instead of being prepared for the season, has left dozens of families who live from tourism in uncertainty. It is inexcusable that operators are forced to protest due to the lack of attention and decision-making by local institutions.

Even more worrying is the fact that the proposed solutions, such as the 4 designated corridors, according to the operators of small boats and vessels themselves, risk creating conflicts between operators and problems in the management of tourist activity.

"The Municipality of Saranda must react immediately, listen to the operators and provide a clear, functional and long-term solution. Tourism is not maintained with propaganda and a TV interview by the mayor, but with responsibility and serious management," Zhupa writes.
