"41-bis" regime returns/Strict security measures for high-risk

After a five-month hiatus, the implementation of the special high-security regime "41-bis" has been restored in Peqin prison.

This decision aims to strengthen control over prisoners suspected of having links to criminal networks and who may continue their activities even from their cells.

According to reports, the first person to be placed in this regime is Sabah Nuzi, accused of the murder of 22-year-old Klevis Lleshi, an event that occurred several years ago and linked by investigations to a structured criminal group.

He has been transferred from Fushë-Krujë prison to Peqin, where he will be held under complete isolation and strict supervision, according to the rules of "41-bis".

This regime, modeled after Italian anti-mafia practice, provides for maximum restriction of contact with other prisoners and highly controlled communication with the outside world.

Authorities see the reinstatement of this measure as part of efforts to crack down on organized crime and prevent criminal activities from being conducted from within prisons./ CNA
