Was part of the humanitarian flotilla stopped by Israel/ Activist Baki Goxhaj

Activist Baki Goxhaj has returned to Tirana. Goxhaj was among more than 400 activists detained by Israeli authorities on the humanitarian flotilla bound for Gaza. He was welcomed at Tirana airport by his family and relatives.

In a statement to the media, Goxhaj also described how he became part of the humanitarian flotilla and the moments of his detention by the Israeli authorities. He said that they were held for two days on a large container ship and that violence was also used against them.

"I am from Vlora and in recent years I have been engaged as an activist for the Palestinian issue, to end the genocide and to resolve this issue that has been going on for 80 years as an open wound in the modern world. The organization that deals with organizing the flotilla is online and has opened applications to become part of the flotilla. After I was informed, I also followed the procedures to become part of it. About 10 days ago we set off. We were in international waters when we saw several large ships and two powerful speedboats approaching. Despite attempts to leave, it was not possible. As they approached, they threatened us and fired guns, I do not know if they were real bullets. They boarded the ship, tied everyone's hands, and I was also blindfolded because I was a little loud, demanding to be released. They dragged us and took us to a large ship made of containers, where we stayed for 2 days and 2 nights as "We only had water to drink and dry bread on the ship. I was there and I saw it with my own eyes, I heard a Palestinian girl not far from me who was then raped. I saw the whole scene ," Goxhaj said.

The activists were detained a few days ago in international waters by Israel, and yesterday they were transported to Istanbul on three separate Turkish Airlines planes. /CNA
