The Mayor of Maliq, Gëzim Topçiu, has reacted to the killing of a police officer and the injury of another in Maliq.

Topçiu shares through a post on social networks his most sincere condolences to the family, relatives, colleagues and State Police structures for the serious event.

Topçiu emphasizes that justice must act decisively, holding the perpetrator of this serious incident legally accountable.

"With deep sorrow I received the news of the tragic loss of life of State Police officer Enea Mekolli, who fell in the line of duty during a police operation in Boda i Lozhani, Maliq.

In these difficult moments, I express my most sincere condolences to his family, relatives, colleagues and all structures of the State Police. His sacrifice in the service of the law and the security of citizens deserves the respect and gratitude of all.

At the same time, I wish a speedy recovery to Officer Edison Adri, who was injured during the same event.

Such serious events remind us of the danger that police officers face every day in the performance of their duties. I believe and demand that justice act decisively, holding the perpetrator of this serious incident legally accountable.
