Veliaj in the High Court/ Lala reveals when the hearing will be held

Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to MCN TV, spoke about the hearing of Mayor Erion Veliaj at the High Court.

Regarding the date when Velaij's hearing at the Supreme Court could be held, Lala said that referring to other cases in this court, it could take place within July.

Lala further said that the Supreme Court has not previously released persons suspected of having committed corruption and the chances of Veliaj being released are slim.

" Veliaj has appealed to the Supreme Court. He claims that the conditions and criteria do not exist, the possibility that Mr. Veliaj could flee the country, to intimidate the evidence. They claim that Veliaj, being mayor, should exercise his duty.

According to the law, after the rapporteur is appointed, a date is set. I believe it will be reviewed within July. Practice has shown that, taking into account other cases, I believe it will be reviewed within July. This issue can be reviewed without the presence of the parties, as was the case with Mr. Meta.

The judge is Albana Boksi, she came from the appeal of serious crimes. She is considered with integrity, she passed the vetting. She was from the first group of judges who went from the special appeal to the Supreme Court. But it is a trio of judges, not a single judge, it is important to see the other judges as well.

After the lawyers are familiar with the prosecution's evidence, they can request the replacement of the security measure. It remains to be seen what evidence the prosecutors will bring for these second two months.

The only difference between Mr. Veliaj and the officials has to do with his duty. The position will be, does the position of the prosecution prevail, or his duty?
