The visit of His Beatitude Archbishop Joan to the Theological School of Halki

Following his official visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, on Monday, June 16, 2025, His Beatitude, Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, Bishop Joani, and the delegation accompanying him, paid a visit to the island of Halki, to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, where the well-known Theological School of Halki is located.

After the breakfast organized by the Community of Neohori of the Bosphorus, Fortlumturia departed at 10:30 by boat from the port of Neohori towards Halki, accompanied by the Metropolitan of Kydoni, Mr. Athinagoras, and by Deacon Evloggio, codicographer of the Holy Synod.

At the Theological School, His Beatitude was received with honor by His Grace, Bishop of Aravisos, Mr. Kasianos, Abbot of the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, and by members of the monastic community. The visit began with a moment of prayer and adoration in the monastery's catholicon, followed by a reception and a tour of the school premises.

The Theological School of Halki, one of the most renowned and influential institutions in the Orthodox world, holds a special place in the history of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania. This school has formed entire generations of Albanian clergy, among whom the name of His Beatitude, Archbishop Kristofor (Kisi), stands out, as well as many other hierarchs and clergy of the Church, who have received their spiritual and academic formation in this holy place.

At the conclusion of the visit, a lunch was served in honor of His Beatitude Archbishop Joan and the Church delegation. /CNA
