At the event for the 100th anniversary of the "Order of Skanderbeg", several important personalities of the country were decorated, including the renowned historian and professor Aurel Plasari, who was decorated with the Grand Officer medal in the "Supreme Order of the Eagle".

After receiving the medal, Plasari also delivered his speech, where he said that this 100th anniversary is emotional. The historian emphasized that this decoration commemorates his 50 years of contribution to Albanian culture.

"The greatest importance of tonight is the 100th anniversary, the Albanian state has been fortunate to establish its orders under this order. I will tell you a curiosity, it was a dream of Faik Konica, that during the time of Turkey, when Konica established the Skanderbeg Award, the personality was announced, but the name was not given. Konica wrote to his friend, Father Pashko Bardhi that when the time comes to establish a state, Albanians should create an order with the name of Skanderbeg, not with the names of saints. Skanderbeg belongs to be the First Order when we have the Albanian state. In this sense, this 100th anniversary is exciting. With this decoration, you have reminded me of your 50-year contribution to Albanian culture," said Plasari.

After receiving the important medal, historian Aurel Plasari thanked all well-wishers for their congratulations.

Plasari explained that: "Grand Officer in the "Supreme Order of the Eagle" is not a military rank. Knight, Grand Officer and Officer are ranks in the orders of tradition. The "Supreme Order of the Eagle" is precisely an order of tradition, founded by Prince Zu Wied during his short-lived reign, the earliest order of honor of the Albanian state. After him, in 1925, the "Order of Skanderbeg" was established, etc."

The historian added that the medal was awarded in recognition of a multifaceted contribution spanning over 50 years, unique in terms of contributions to the main fields of thought, as well as scientific research in Albania and beyond, in Southeast Europe, creating a valuable legacy and opening up very promising perspectives in the fields of letters, journalism, translation and, above all, in the field of Albanology.
