This is the ninth hearing being held on this issue after being pushed back by the tactics of the mayor and his lawyers.

Veliaj, who until yesterday claimed that he was being held in prison without charges, while there are now charges, documents, evidence, facts taken to court with a file of about 60 thousand pages, and Erion Veliaj does not go to face them, but flees from facing justice.

He is facing 13 charges, of which 9 are for corruption, 1 for abuse of office, 1 for laundering the proceeds of crime, 1 for concealing assets, and 1 for bringing prohibited items into the cell.

In an official announcement, SPAK emphasized that so far 8 court hearings have been postponed due to the unjustified absence of the defendants' defense attorneys or their unfair requests, preventing the completion of the preliminary trial within the deadlines provided for by the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Regarding Erion Veliaj's claims, regarding the recognition of criminal proceedings, SPAK underlined that prosecutors have notified within the deadline provided by Article 324 of the Criminal Procedure Code on the completion of preliminary investigations./ CNA
