Tried to traffic 53.3 kg of drugs/ Korçë Prosecutor's Office

During the investigations carried out under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction in Korça and in cooperation with the Judicial Police, the citizen EG was arrested in the act, suspected of committing the criminal offense of 'Trafficking of narcotics', pending an attempt. provided by article 283/a/1 and 22 of the Criminal Code.

In the framework of the joint plan of measures "For the prevention and suppression of illegal activity in the direction of drug trafficking and arms and ammunition trafficking", between the Local Directorate of Police Korça and the Local Directorate of Border and Migration Korça, starting and from the preliminary information dated 06.05.2024 that the vehicle scanning system was in the process of repair, on 06.05.2024, around 11:50 at the "Qafë Thane" Border Crossing Point, a "Voksëagen" type vehicle, with a driver citizen EG was selected by the police for control in the second line.

During the control carried out in the area where the legs are placed, under the first seat, on the driver's side, a deposit/place was found, inside which there were 11 packages wrapped in plastic bags, inside which there was a quantity of plants and suspected as a narcotic substance of the Cannabis Sativa type.

Following the inspection of this vehicle, a deposit was also found under the first seat on the passenger side, inside which 10 more packages were found. Further, the check continued in the back, where another 30 packages were found under the seat.

In total, 51 packages with transparent plastic wrap were found in the vehicle driven by citizen EG, which had inside them plant material in a dry state, with an odor and characteristics similar to those of the narcotic plant of the Cannabis Sativa type with a total weight of 53,332 kilograms.

For the above, there are the legal conditions and criteria provided in articles 228 and 229 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for the person under EG investigation to be assigned a coercive personal security measure.
