The increased checks on all road axes continue, for the identification and punishment of violators of traffic rules who are a potential risk for involvement in road events, as well as for the increase of road safety parameters in the capital.

During the past week, 20 drivers have been arrested and prosecuted for various criminal offences, namely:

5 citizens were arrested in the act for driving while intoxicated; 

2 citizens were arrested in the act for driving under the influence of narcotics;

4 citizens have been arrested in cooperation with the Economic and Financial Crime Sector of DVP Tirana, for the criminal offense "Active corruption against persons exercising public functions".

Also, 8102 administrative measures have been imposed, mainly for violations that are the source of accidents.

203 administrative measures have been imposed for speeding over the allowed rates; 

469 administrative measures have been imposed for the use of mobile devices while driving;

468 drivers were punished for not giving priority to pedestrians, on white lines;

1158 drivers were punished for not wearing a seat belt; 

80 administrative measures have been imposed, for darkened windows;

446 administrative measures have been imposed for failure to wear protective helmets by drivers of motor vehicles.
