Albania comes out of the gray list of money laundering/ The FATF statement is

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku a day ago made the important announcement that FATF has removed Albania from the money laundering gray list.

The FATF statement states that Albania has made progress in the fight against dirty money.

The document lists the 6 points that FATF has identified in Albania's progress in this matter.  

FATF underlines that Albania has carried out additional in-depth analysis to sufficiently understand dirty money and other risks, and increased institutional coordination and cooperation, formalization of the economy and reduction of ML/TF risks resulting from the widespread use of money land and registration of ownership information in almost the entire country.

2- Albania has improved the timely handling of requests for mutual legal assistance.

3-Creating effective mechanisms for the detection and prevention of criminal infiltration in the economy, including strengthening the powers of the competent authorities to undertake the necessary actions.

 4-Ensuring that accurate and up-to-date basic and beneficial ownership information is available in a timely manner.

 5-Increasing the number and improving the sophistication of criminal prosecutions and confiscations of dirty money, especially in cases involving foreign criminal offences.

6-Improving the implementation of targeted financial sanctions, especially through enhanced supervisory actions and targeted and proactive outreach. Therefore, Albania is no longer subject to the enhanced FATF monitoring process.
