"Road" wreaks havoc with fines/ Traffic violators are punished

Tirana Traffic Police, this week, has increased preventive police checks to verify drivers who drive after consuming alcoholic beverages, without a driving license, at speeds above the allowed rates, violating traffic lights, without a seat belt, for using a mobile phone while driving, as well as for vehicles that occupy spaces dedicated to the free movement of vehicles.

As a result of the checks, Road Traffic specialists:

They have arrested/proceeded 32 drivers, of whom 13 were drunk, 6 were without a driver's license, 7 for traffic violations, 2 people were wanted, 2 drivers for "Active corruption against persons exercising public functions", 1 driver for leaving the scene of an accident, and 1 citizen for making a false statement to a Judicial Police officer.

They have imposed 10,954 administrative measures for various road violations, an average of 1,564 per day.

They have suspended 15 driving licenses and impounded 15 vehicles.

20 vehicles were towed away, occupying spaces designated for the free movement of vehicles./ CNA
