Opposition protest/Police: 3 officers injured

The police issued a statement late Sunday night, saying that 3 officers were injured in the opposition protest.

According to the police, one officer suffered eye injuries, while two other employees suffered injuries to their face and hand from pyrotechnics.

The police officers have been escorted to the hospital and are under the specialized care of doctors.

"This evening, during the protest called and organized by the political entity Democratic Party, held on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, Tirana, as a result of the throwing of pyrotechnics towards Police officers, stationed on duty in front of the Prime Minister's Office, three State Police officers were injured.

One employee suffered eye injuries, while two other employees suffered injuries to their face and hand.

The police officers were immediately escorted to the hospital to receive the necessary assistance and are under the specialized care of doctors.

Meanwhile, the State Police services are collecting all evidence and video footage to identify and bring to justice the perpetrators who harmed the Police officers, as planned according to the plan of measures for the smooth conduct of the opposition rally.

"The Director of the Tirana Police Department, Director Elton Alushi, and the Deputy Director of Public Order have visited the injured employees in the hospital premises, ensuring that they receive any necessary assistance, in cooperation with the medical staff," the announcement states./ CNA
