DP Deputy Leader and MP Belind Këlliçi has reacted to the increase in oil prices in the country, accusing the government of not taking measures to protect citizens from rising fuel prices.
Këlliçi emphasizes that the price of oil has been continuously increasing, reaching today around 206 lekë per liter at retail outlets. According to him, this increase directly burdens the budget of Albanian families and brings a chain effect in the increase in the prices of other consumer products.
He criticized the government for the lack of subsidy measures during periods of rising prices in international markets, claiming that Albania was among the few countries that did not intervene to ease the financial burden of citizens.
"The price of oil is rising. More expenses for citizens, more benefits for Edi Rama."
The price of oil is increasing every day and today it costs about 2 thousand lek per liter at retail outlets. The more the price of oil increases, the more it weighs on the pockets of Albanian citizens who have the lowest incomes and the least purchasing power in Europe.
It is understood that this leads to a chain reaction of price increases for other basic products.
But there is one person who benefits from this situation, and that is Edi Rama. The more the price increases, the more money he receives from high fuel taxes.
The last time Edi Rama used state budget money as if it were his personal coffers, it was 4.2 million euros for a private concert turned into an anti-rally.
The price of oil was 175 lek per liter in mid-June. It gradually increased and today we are at 206 lek per liter.
Even a few months ago, when fuel prices increased globally due to the war in Iran, our government was the only one in the region and on the continent that did not take subsidy measures to help citizens so that the economy and their pockets were not affected.
"Based on income and purchasing power, the price of oil in Albania is the highest on the continent, and this is mainly due to the high taxes that the government has imposed on a liter of fuel," writes Këlliçi./ CNA
