This Tuesday, the Special Court rejected the request of the former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu, to call foreign military and political personalities as witnesses and accepted the Prosecution's list of 71 witnesses.

This decision, Mediu's defense lawyer, Saimir Vishaj, said that the court is behaving subjectively.

In a statement to the media, he stated that the Court should give the right to question Mediu's witnesses, as he claims that they called them for a strong reason.

" In the list of witnesses we have a major reason for which we called these witnesses and we should be given the right to call all subjects to be questioned before the court. Based on the acts that the court decided to decide, it should have received this today's decision. The reasons why we requested a re-inspection, the court should have had a rejection reasoning. It did not do this because for us it is a special moment of an undeserved subjectivism.

In our inquiries the Court is legally bound to express acceptance or rejection. All have agreed to come as witnesses. The minister's political role has nothing to do with everything, it is attributed to him from a criminal point of view ," the lawyer stressed./ CNA
