"Renaissance, barbarism with the education system"/ Berisha: Teachers
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha

In the context of March 7, the Teacher's Day, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha highlighted the problems in the education system.

Berisha emphasized that teachers in Albania today have the lowest salaries, about 40% lower than in Kosovo.

According to the former prime minister, Rilindja is equal to our education system, as it does not place the teacher on the pedestal he deserves.

"You will never and never have the education system you want if you don't put the teacher on the pedestal he deserves.

This is the first condition to have the right education, the right education.

What happened to teachers these 10 years?

These 10 years, Albanian teachers, among the highest paid teachers in the entire Balkans and the region, thanks to a policy aimed at the teacher on the pedestal, today they have the lowest salaries. 30-40 percent lower than in Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the high salaries of senior officials double and triple.

Teachers' salaries today, compared to the inflation of the last 4 years, not 10 years, but only the last 4 years, are 40 percent lower.

The renaissance has proved a true barbarism for the education system.

Great efforts were made to modernize this system with serious expenses, but iron will. We transformed the Internet from a forbidden apple for Albanian children, into a tool, into a universe in which every child of this country could surf for free.

The lesson was given in two or three shifts. We eliminated school tours and rebuilt over 1,300 school buildings across the country.

So, my friends, we did everything to take Albanian education, to train it in the most serious way, convinced that this is the only way to prepare our future.

The results were not lacking, it is already known that we had a vertical ascent, we became one of the countries with the most vertical ascent in the PISA test for the quality of education.

Today is a day of the flag at half-mast for Albanian education, because this year's PISA, which included the eight years of the Rilindash sect in power, marked, unfortunately for us, the biggest decline in the quality of education in the world.

Isn't this a reason to lower the flag in our education to half-mast?", said Berisha./ CNA
