CNA, for several weeks, has been denouncing the abuses at the 62nd Song Festival on the Albanian Radio Television, which has been directed by Alfred Peza for almost a year.

CNA published documents showing how about 140 million lek more had been spent compared to the previous edition, money for rental vehicles, money for competitive songs, payments for guests and scenography had been added.

The documents showed that the guests and rental vehicles accounted for approximately 200 million ALL, over 30% of the total value of the expenses.

CNA did not stop here, but for the expenses of the Song Festival, it addressed three official letters to the head of RTSH, director Alfred Peza and the chairman of the RTSH Governing Council, Mr. Leka Bungo.

The requests had some simple and clear questions: When was the 2023 budget approved? How much was the funding for the Festival and were there any changes or revisions to the budget? What was the amount proposed by Peza? How many proposals did Peza make for the Festival and what is their value? How much did the 62nd Song Festival at RTSH cost?

These are legitimate questions, without any risk, if everything was in accordance with the law, so we did not expect the refusal, or even the refusal to return the answer even from Mr. Peza nor from Mr. Bungo, at least for two of our official requests.

We received a negative response from director Peza, who informed us that he could not provide us with the information requested by us, etc., without referring to any legal basis and "forgetting" that the information should have been made public, since RTSH funds are public and this forces transparency.

In the conditions of silence even after the third request that CNA addressed to Peza e Bungo, we were forced, in February, to address a complaint to the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data, who gives the right to CNA, while makes it clear to the General Director, Alfred Peza, and the Chairman of the Governing Council, Leka Bungo, that making available the data requested by CNA is a legal right, the refusal is an illegal act.

"After the preliminary examination of the complaint, we bring to your attention that point 3 of the article of the law no. 119/2014, 'On the right to information', as amended (hereinafter LDI), provides that: "Every person has the right to become familiar with public information, through the original document, or by receiving a copy of it in the form or format which allows full access to the content of the documentation", is quoted in the letter of the Public Commissioner addressed to the holders of RTSH, Peza e Bungo, which follows:

"Also, based on point 2 of article 2 of the LDI, it is provided that: 'public information' is any data recorded in any form and format, during the exercise of the public function, regardless of whether it was compiled or not by the public authority. In this sense, the Public Authority must make available to the applicant any information, document, which is produced or kept by the latter in the form possessed", it is written, among other things, in the letter-response that the Commissioner for the Right to Information, has returned to City News Albania.

So, the Commissioner for the Right to Information, in addition to supporting CNA in its own right as a media, orders RTSH to provide the hidden information.

This, since the deliberate concealment of information raises even more suspicions of abuses. And instead of an official response with data, CNA has faced attacks, defamation and insults.

And these banal and disgusting attacks came from Leka Bungo, who, if not an associate of Alfred Peza, is an approver of his "massacre" in RTSH.

Leka Bungo, instead of an answer to the figures of the Song Festival, which vary from 466 to 600 million lek, attacks the CNA.

Instead of an answer to the mass dismissals as the chairman of the Board of Directors, I throw bile at the CNA just because we asked them some simple and fair questions.

CNA emphasizes once again that it will not be intimidated by the attacks coming to it from Leka Bungo, but will continue to denounce the abuses in RTSH and will fight for the disclosure of the truth./ CNA
