"The protest riot is not related to the party"/ Këlliç

DP MP Belind Këlliçi spoke this evening regarding the opposition protests and the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party.

Invited to the "Krasta Show" show on Syri TV, Këlliçi stated that the revolt in the opposition protests comes only from the anger of citizens and not from the Democratic Party. According to him, this has also been seen in Berisha's calls for a peaceful uprising.

"We as the DP have the image and communication part, but the revolt part is different and is not controlled by us. The anger of the citizens is not related to the DP. According to reports, the most revolutionary person in the DP is Berisha, who calls for peaceful protests and calls for neither police officers nor institutions to be harmed.

"If it were up to the militants, the Prime Minister's Office would have been set on fire, but it is the DP that remains in full coherence with the positions and demands of the Europeans, and we have definitely managed to make the protest world news and be in the headlines of international media," said the MP.

Regarding the elections for the leader of the Democratic Party, where Sali Berisha is the only candidate, Këlliçi said that this has also happened with the current leader of the European People's Parties, Manfred Weber, who has received a second mandate without any political rival facing him.

"Saliu is the first to take revenge on Rama. Today we had a leadership meeting where a unanimous decision was made that only Mr. Berisha meets the criteria to run for a position as leader of the DP. A referendum will be held to vote yes or no in this regard for the Democratic Party.

"The current leader of the EPP, Manfred Weber, has received a second mandate without competition. Only the PD-e jae allows the party leader to be elected one member, one vote, and then the membership elects both the governing bodies and the candidates for mayor. In the span of less than a year, we have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that May 11 was an electoral farce ," said Këlliçi. /CNA
