The first round of registrations at the "Luigj Gurakuqi" University has ended. Rector Tonin Gjuraj says that based on the applications, there is a slight increase in the number of students by 0.5%, however, we must wait until October 24 when the other two rounds of registration will end, while he called on the Moors of the north, Albanian-speaking regions and everywhere else to choose the University of Shkodra. Nursing, physiotherapy and finance are the most preferred branches. The opposite happens with branches such as physics and language and literature, which continue to have problems.

"I call on high school graduates who, for the second round on September 20-22, will go to the UAlbania portal for another application process at the University of Shkodra. I also call on those who have completed their bachelor's studies to register for the second cycle of master's studies. The master's has a more extensive academic offer. We have 24 master's degree programs, we had 17, we have 3 new ones that respond to the needs of the labor market, clinical nursing, innovative marketing and food quality and nutrition that will be next year. We have 4 foreign language programs for all the languages ??that are at the university, German, English, French and Italian. So there are 3 new programs and 4 reorganized ones.

The balance of registrations should be done after October 24 for bachelor because the first round closed on October 1, the second round is on October 20-22 and registrations are made between October 28-8 and we have a free third round that continues until October 24. This does not include transfers and quotas coming from abroad. Based on applications, there is an increasing percentage based on applications and quotas. Last year it was 44.73% and this year we are 45.21% in the ratio of quotas to applications.

"The programs that have seen significant growth are finance and here we have quality students. Physics and language and literature are programs with many problems and the staff must do an analysis because they are in difficulty. We will work hard for new bachelor's programs. History and cultural heritage is inactive because we have reorganized it and this study program will be activated in 2026," said Rector Gjuraj.

Gjuraj said that Shkodra's MPs should be in support of the "Luigj Gurakuqi" University, leaving behind political divisions among them for the good of Shkodra.

"The need for investment. I call on politics in Shkodra, the representatives of Shkodra in the Assembly, the left and the right and every group that represents Shkodra there, to be together, we to be together because this is a high public interest. When the moment for change for higher law education begins, this university needs to support it.

I will contact the MPs to exert positive pressure on the government to build a campus in this city because it serves a wider geography and the time has come to have a campus. We have requested that two buildings be transferred to the ownership of the university. The ambition is to also have a faculty of technical medical sciences because the number is considerable because the quotas are filled in the first round.

"By October we will have the student card produced by the municipality, while the canteen will also start and we have good conditions in the dormitories. Preparations for the new academic year have begun and we hope that the auditors will see an increase, especially the teaching programs, since they are a national priority."
