When "Voice of America" ??inquired about the response of the Albanian government regarding the investment of Donald Trump's son-in-law in Sazan, the Ministry of Culture and Environment gave a tactful response. It was indeed confirmed that the door was open for the investor, but it was still said that "according to the law, the project must go through several stages of examination, before decisions are made".
This type of answer implies that decision-making is of an institutional nature that takes its own time based on the work done for the relevant verifications. This nature of handling a state issue was undone after 24 hours by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the Socialist Party assembly in Gjirin e Lalzi.
Rama was "undressed" from the hypocrisy with which he responded to the "Voice of America" ??and confirmed with the usual sarcasm that the investment has been agreed upon and anyone who opposes it is either delusional, or a liar, or a slanderer.
"The truth that is important in the meantime is not how unrelated these warnings are about the danger that threatens Albanian nature from the changes in the law of protected areas or from the landing in Sazan of the most prestigious hotel company in the world, which has built a dozen structures in UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Asia and the Middle East. The truth that matters in the meantime is that Albania, the champion of tourism in the region in 2030, is not a slogan to feed the illusion of a bright tomorrow, but a geopolitical and economic project that is being shaped with concrete plans and measures that create the space possible for this historical development", said Rama, denying the fact that Sazani was part of the protected areas, as previously reported by "Lapsi.al", based on the list of the National Agency of Protected Areas. Notice in the sentence above how the prime minister declares Sazan "a jewel in the golden crown of tourism in the Mediterranean". Notice how he announces the "landing of the most prestigious hotel company in the world" and how he clarifies that this is "a geopolitical and economic project", confirming in his own words that the deal is already closed and that the review expected by the institutions is only a formality.
Secret negotiations with Kushner and Abehsera
It is clear that the confirmation given by the Prime Minister of Albania for such a weighty project is not a matter of days or weeks. Jared Kushner first came to Albania with his wife, Ivanka Trump in the summer of 2021 together with Sheikh Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG.
They returned two years later, in the summer of 2023, accompanied by Richard Grenell, the Trump administration's former envoy for the Western Balkans, and Asher Abehsera, his business partner.
In the statement for "Bloomberg News", Kushner admitted that he received the first signals to invest in Albania precisely from these two people, Richard Grenell and Asher Abehesera. The latter is the person on the right of the photo, standing on the left side of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In the photo above, the group has just left the "House of Leaves" museum in Tirana, which they visited last summer. Likewise, the "New York Times" confirmed that the contacts between Jared Kushner and the Albanian government have intensified with the mediation of businessman Shefqet Kastrati and his son, Musa Kastrati.
Their investments include a concession to run the international airport in Tirana, a chain of gas stations in Albania and hotels and other businesses, according to business associates and Mr. Kushner, the New York Times reported.

"They have helped us understand the cost of construction and how to operate locally," said Jared Kushner in his statement to the American media.
The article also went on to mention that in October 2022, Shefqet Kastrati bought a $7.5 million home in Indian Creek, Fla., land records show, a property that is close to where Mrs. Trump and Mr. Kushner now live. The Kastrati family also last year bought a hotel in the Brickell section of Miami for $55 million from the Qatari royal family.
Musa Kastrati, in an interview, said the role his family company would play in Mr. Kushner's Albanian projects was not yet clear, but would probably include helping to build some of the complexes. Mr Kastrati also confirmed that in December 2022 he visited Mar-a-Lago, Mr Trump's resort and residence in Florida, with Mr Grenell and that he also met Mr Trump briefly when the former president arrived while they were having dinner. Kastrati said that he had not discussed the possible agreement with Mr. Trump.
Other agreements that Rama has personally negotiated
Prime Minister Rama is creating a tradition of personal negotiation for projects of a state nature.
No one was aware of the negotiations between him and Melon for the establishment of refugee camps in Shengjin and Gjadër, which can accommodate around 36 thousand Africans per year.
Last summer, Albanians watched with curiosity and pleasure how the prime minister of Italy, Giorxhia Meloni, came with her family to rest on the shores of Vlora, becoming news everywhere in our media and those beyond the Adriatic. Rama himself was seen giving Meloni a chilling kiss at one of the heads of state summits.

Those who wondered where this love came from got the answer in November of last year. In exchange for these heads, Rama gave the Italian government the right to send African refugees caught in international waters to Gjadër. Secret negotiations had been conducted for more than 6 months and by the time the agreement was signed it was too late to discuss the losses and gains.
For those who asked what the Albanians gained from this agreement, Rama returned 30 years later, to remind us that we owe a debt to the Italians who welcomed us when we were immigrants.
The same scheme was followed for the "Durra Yacht and Marina" project. In the beginning, there was talk of a lucky agreement from which the citizens of Durrës would benefit first and where the investor would be "Emaar group". With two billion euros of promised investments, it was said that Durrës would be transformed into a magical Mediterranean spot.
When the negotiations were closed in complete secrecy, it was learned that the Emaar group would not invest in Durrës. The investment figure of two billion euros also dropped, since in reality, Mohammed Alabbar, would invest a little more than 80 million euros. Then, with the money he earns from the sale of apartments in the pit, he will continue with the construction of palaces and hotels.

In addition, the state forgave taxes and hundreds of thousands of meters of land on the coast. Then he opened a hole in the budget for the construction of the new port in Porto Romano, not counting the millions he risks in arbitration. The icing on the cake; the chances are that the citizens of Durrës will be prohibited from entering the residence, which will be built by the investor from Dubai.
In both of the above cases, Rama has been "dressed" with the same words to those who have accused him, that when he negotiates personally and occultly, he has his personal interest in the foreground and not that of the Albanian taxpayers./ Lapsi. al
